Prague

Traveling around Europe doesn’t always mean you have to break the bank. Sure there are the popular expensive places like Ibiza, Rome, London and Paris but with the big names come expensive hotels, high priced foods and drinks, not to mention the generally appealing exchange rates. A cheaper option not normally considered by young travellers is Prague. Prague offers a thriving night life, great cultural views, cheap food and a very appealing exchange rate. The current exchange rate to the US dollar is 17-1.  You also don’t have to pay through the nose to get there flights from most main cities vary from 20-100 pounds return depending on the deals on offer at the time. The night life in Prague us one of the best in the world boasting 5 storey night clubs and great bars along the main district, and you won’t be paying up to 18 euro’s for a drink. Prague is a great alternative for those looking to have the European party experience without the heavy price tag.

About Chiang Mai

When you hear Thailand you think of Phi Phi, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Bangkok. These are the favoured tourist destinations in Thailand offering beautiful beaches, thriving nightlife and great shopping. However, many tourists often never travel north of Bangkok towards the city of Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is and inland city which cannot provide you with beautiful beaches or scuba diving, but what it does provide can certainly make up for it. Chiang Mai is famous around Thailand for are local food markets bursting with amazing smells of herbs and spices which can be experienced anywhere else. Now I’m not talking about fried cockroaches and spiders or cooked dog. They have a wide variety of fresh seafood brought in from the coast, all your favourite Thai dishes and many traditional foods for around $2 each! Once you’ve filled yourself to the burst its time to take a 3 day hike into the mountains. No this may seem unappealing to the young adult traveller looking to party it up for 2 weeks but believe me it is worth it! After hiking through the mountains for about three quarters of the day you end up in a local tribal village where you stay, cook dinners with the tribes people as their children put on shows for you. He next day, if you are brave enough, you can go and meet the tigers, brought up by monks since they were cubs, these tigers are placid and are used to human interaction. You are able to lie down with them and take phtoto’s. Unlike the blackout drunken escapade during the full moon party, this is truly an experience you will remember for the rest of your life.

The Church

In London hundreds of travellers wake up at round 4.30 to prepare themselves for church every Sunday afternoon.  However, this church is not a place of worship....at least for any religions, and by preparing themselves I don’t mean having a shower and getting ready. By getting ready I mean, drinking as much as possible so that by the time you arrive at Clapham junction the party starts in line. The Church is a must visit for all backpackers as its only open from 7am-4pm once a week. This isn’t your standard bar, what was once a catholic church, is has been converted into a bar where you’ll find drinking competitions, wet t-shirt contests and a lot of Aussies, Kiwi’s and South Africans.
